Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire gives you all that and more. Whether you’re with family, friends, or nature lovers, it’s perfect for spending a full, fun, wildlife-packed day.

What to See & Do

Here are the main attractions and experiences to look out for:

  • Road Safari Drive through large reserves with animals like rhinos, giraffes, lions, bears, elephants, zebras, and more. You can make unlimited circuits of the Road Safari during your visit. 
  • Foot Safari (Walking Trails / Habitats) After or before the drive-through, get out and explore on foot. There are many walk-through habitats for smaller mammals and birds, plus enclosures for things like penguins, sea lions, otters, red pandas. New addition: Giraffe Meadow offers a grandstand view over the Rothschild’s giraffe herd, with keeper talks on weekends and school holidays (e.g. at 1:30pm) so you can sit, relax and enjoy. 
  • Keeper Talks / Demonstrations The park runs a daily programme of talks and demonstrations with many of the animals (sea lions, penguins, birds of prey, etc). These are often highlights that bring the animals to life. 
  • Play & Leisure Areas For families especially, there are lots of extras: play zones, indoor soft play, the Great Woburn Railway, Tiny Tots safari trails, etc. Makes it easier to balance adult, child pace. 
  • Special Experiences If available, there are VIP / ranger-guided experiences (e.g. off-road drives) to get closer to some animals. These usually need to be booked in advance.

  • Woburn Safari Park is located in Bedfordshire, Postcode MK43 0TU via Ridgmont village gate.
  • Opening times: Park opens daily at 10:00. Last entry is 5:00pm; park closes at 6:00pm. 
  • Tickets: You can book in advance online or pay at the gate. Timed arrival slots are used especially in busy periods but arriving late (within reason) is usually okay if it’s before closing. 
  • What’s included: The standard ticket gives access to the Road Safari, Foot Safari (walking trails and habitats), and all the play and leisure areas. 
  • Vehicles & restrictions: You need your own vehicle to do the Road Safari. Some vehicle restrictions apply (e.g. soft-top or convertible cars may be restricted in certain “dangerous” zones like carnivore enclosures.

What to See & Do

When you arrive, there are several highlights and experiences not to miss:

  • Animal enclosures & native wildlife Wildwood focuses on British species—both present and past. Wolves, bears, lynxes, wildcats, otters, wild boar, beavers, deer, foxes and many more.
  • Feeding sessions and talks The keepers often do feeding times and talks. These offer insight into animals’ lives, conservation status, behaviours. Worth timing your visit around one of these. (Check on arrival or ahead via their website.)
  • Trails and woodland walks The woodland paths are part of the charm—the way the animals’ enclosures are set among trees, the dappled light, spots to pause. If you enjoy walking, bring comfortable shoes and maybe binoculars.
  • Adventure play areas 
    Great for families: there are large play structures, slides (including a vertical drop slide), zip-slides, tree-top features. Younger children have a separate under-5s area. 
  • Relaxation & Refreshments After walking and exploring, good cafés and picnic spots are essential. Wildwood has both: café with hot/cold meals, snacks etc., plus scenic spots to sit, eat, and rest.

If you're a rabbit enthusiast or a proud bunny parent, the National Rabbit Festival 2025 was the event you didn't want to miss. Saturday, 23rd August 2025, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, this festival promises a day filled with education, celebration, and advocacy for all things rabbit-related. Held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham, it's the UK's first ethical, rescue-based event dedicated to rabbits. TNRF

  • Safari Drive - The signature experience: travel by car through a four-mile drive with wide habitats and large species from around the world. Quite immersive. On busy days, this section alone can take over two hours.

  • Safari Walk & Animal Encounters After or before the drive, the walk areas give you chance to stretch legs and get closer to smaller creatures. 

Discovery Trail: penguins, lorikeets, reptiles, bats etc. 
Tiger Tropics, Lion Ridge big cat viewpoints.

  • Shows & Daily Talks Sea Lion shows are a highlight. Also keeper talks. Good to schedule your day around show times. If attending the penguin talk there is often a chance to feed them for a small fee.

  • Prehistoric & Themed Exhibits There are big walk-through or display areas like Land of the Living Dinosaurs and Ice Age which are especially fun for kids who like animatronics, fossils and prehistoric beasts.

  • Location: The park is at Spring Grove, Bewdley, Worcestershire, postcode DY12 1LF. 
  • Opening times: The standard opening is around 10:00am. Specific closing times depend on the season. Note: the Safari Drive closes earlier than the rest of the park, so check times ahead. 
  • Ticket info & pricing: Entry tickets start from about £19.90 for the Safari Drive / Walk only. If you want rides in the Adventure Theme Park, wristbands or combined “entry + rides” tickets go higher. Under-3s are free.
