Why I like it
I think this is a really good middle-ground set. It's still affordable enough for a smaller gift, but with 407 pieces there's more of a building project involved than with the hamster. And if you start with the cat but decide you'd rather have a dog on display, you can simply rebuild it.

Why I like it
This is probably the set I'd choose for someone who wants more of a building project. I also really like the family theme. Rather than simply getting three versions of one animal, you can completely change the setting by rebuilding the same bricks into pandas, orcas or penguins. It's a lovely mix of building, imagination and animal discovery.

Why I like it

For me, the biggest appeal is the 3-in-1 concept. You're not limited to building one model and putting the box away. Each of these sets gives you three different building options from the same bricks. The models can't be built simultaneously, but you can rebuild them whenever you fancy a change.
That makes them particularly appealing if you enjoy building, rebuilding and trying something different. They're also nice for people who want something creative to do away from a screen, whether that's a child looking for a new project, a family building together or an adult LEGO fan who simply loves animals. And when you've finished building, several of these models are designed with display in mind too, so your finished animal doesn't necessarily have to disappear back into the LEGO box.
