Stepping into Warwick Castle is like stepping into a real-life fairy-tale fortress. With its rich history, dramatic towers and ramparts, live shows, mazes, and sweeping views over the Avon, it offers a blend of history, entertainment and adventure. Great for families, friends, history buffs—or anyone who likes their experiences with a dose of drama and spectacle.
What to See & Do
Here are the main highlights and experiences to look out for during your day:
- The Castle & Ramparts - Explore the Great Hall, State Rooms, towers and ramparts. Climb up for views. Immerse in medieval architecture and heritage.
- Live Shows & Spectacles - The Legend of the Trebuchet – the castle’s massive working siege weapon is fired in public demonstrations. Falconer’s Quest – birds of prey display. Seasonal / special events (jousting, medieval pageants etc.)
- Horrible Histories® Maze & Play Areas - Interactive maze themed on Horrible Histories is lovely for kids and adults. Also there’s a playground / Zog Playland for younger children.
- The Dungeon - A walk-through, immersive experience using live actors, effects and storytelling. Note: more intense, not suitable for very young children or those sensitive to dark / scary exhibits.
- Gardens & Grounds - The gardens, peacock garden, and river banks provide beautiful spots for leisurely strolls, photos and relaxing. The setting adds calm in between the more theatrical parts of the visit.
- Food, Shopping & Extras - There are cafés / restaurants on site; shops with medieval souvenirs etc. Also, if you stay nearby (or in Knight’s Village / Warwick Castle Hotel) you can stretch the experience.
